Class description:
Mary Overlie’s Six Viewpoints provide a framework for observation and improvisation. The practice deconstructs performance into six materials: SPACE, SHAPE, TIME, EMOTION, MOVEMENT, and STORY. Using the power of attention, the performer can investigate these materials individually and discover the interplay between them. In this introductory workshop we will isolate and encounter the raw materials of performance, exploring within our own bodies and as a collective.
Nieya’s contemporary class is designed for intermediate to advanced dancers looking to deepen their physical and creative practice. We’ll explore momentum, breath-driven movement, and the body’s connection to space through combinations, floorwork, and improvisation. Drawing from a mix of traditional modern techniques, the class invites dancers to take risks, trust their instincts, and find new pathways in motion.
This is an advanced class that will work through floor sequences in the center and moving in space. Sequences will integrate many level changes with dynamics and a high level of physicality.
his tap class is designed for dancers ready to build greater speed, clarity, and musicality in their tap technique. This energetic class explores more complex rhythms, syncopation, and layered footwork while strengthening timing, coordination, and control. Dancers will work on longer combinations that challenge memory with complexity, while also developing confidence in improvisation and personal style. Come groove, jam, and tap!
Style is jazz funk and level of movement is intermediate/advance.
Lunch won’t be provided, so everyone will need to plan their own meal for the day. Feel free to grab something from a local spot or bring your own.
